Round Robin Match-Play

I am finding it hard to cover the Round Robin format because I just watch the scoreboard. The matches themselves are not very intense. It has the feeling of qualifying more than match-play. Now I do like the potential excitement in the position round and we got to experience that in the morning round, where there was less than 50 pins between 22 place and the cut to the top 16...28th was less than a 100 pins out. It is very rare that a person makes that kind of a jump but I do remember one position round were Randy Pedersen was in the TOC by 105 pins and fell out to Mark Williams in Kansas City.

The evening round did not have the same kind of excitement as 9th place was 156 pins off the show. There was a possibility of some movement in the Top 5 and Patrick had to get the first hit in the 10th to maintain the lead...which he did. As it turned out everybody held their position.

Most of the time during match-play I am working on the truck or with other bowlers so for the second time we have had this format I can't give you much of the details.

The scores are on the PBA website so I need to try and figure out a way to cover this round. Maybe I can list the balls being used and the part of the lane they are playing.

I will have another shot at figuring it out next week in Spartanburg, SC
