The second block played tighter at the break point. The Viper

The Round of 16 had Mika paired up with fellow Brunswick staffer
Brad Angelo
It was a hard fought battle with Mika getting the upper hand at
the end. Brad
started hot by shooting 279 in his first game and might have
made the match
different if he could have followed the transitions better. Mika
seemed to recognize
and adapt to the transitions better. Both bowlers had a good
look. I believe that
the match could have moved left later in the match. Possibly
getting away from the
spotty break point and carry they were getting.

In the Round of 8 Mika drew Chris
Loschetter which is never and easy battle. Chris looked good in
the Round of 32...Struggled in the Round of 16, probably because
of his opponent and how the lanes transition with a sideways guy
in Dave D'Entremont. This was a closely contested match with
Mika getting the better of the close games in 2 through 4. The
256-235 win in game 4 is a real difference maker. Mika never
struggled with transition and his ball reaction looked good.
Mika had control of the lane and his ball got through the pins
well. This match went further left in the later games which
probably had to do with the better reaction and carry as
compared to the Brad Angelo match.

Final comments:
Very consistent look for Mika from round
to round. Mika used a combination of Twisted Fury's and seems to
be in command of the transitions and carry. Mika is bowling well
as evidenced by the good thumb exit even when he is lofting the
ball. The thumb exit is very crucial to Mika's success.
Early transitions are not easy to follow for any of the bowlers
and angles are very important to carry when the oil gets down
the lane. |
